Executive coaching is a one-to-one relationship with an experienced ARK coach, usually over a few months. We can cover any aspect of leadership, management, career development and life planning.

Key features of our coaching are:

  • We anchor our coaching in reality. We start from where the coachee is now, taking time to help that person truly understand their current challenges and opportunities.
  • We ensure that the individual develops at a pace that is effective for them: some people will reject change if it is too quick or aspirational – others need to see rapid progress.
  • We encourage the coachee to habitually observe their attitudes, reactions and behaviour, as self awareness is a key tool for the long term.
  • We do not use prescribed programmes or modules – every executive coaching intervention is precisely tailored to the needs of the individual and the context in which that person works.

The coaching process will therefore include an initial scene-setting session, followed by a number of sessions to develop and evaluate new thoughts, skills and behaviour.

Typically, executive coachees use their sessions to think about the present and the future; to formulate realistic plans; to repair unproductive relationships; to build new skills, especially around leadership; and to work on their personal communication style.

Personal development is a journey, sometimes into unknown territory, and so a trusting relationship has to be built quickly. It is also important that the coach recognises the circumstances the coachee faces. Therefore, all ARK s coaches have held senior in major organisations.

Dyslexia in the Workplace Almost three million adults in the UK workforce suffer from dyslexia. Most people associate the condition with impaired reading skills, but in fact symptoms are more wide-ranging, including problems with maths, prioritising, absorbing and communicating information accurately and completing tasks in sequence. Adults with undiagnosed dyslexia have often developed sophisticated coping strategies, but can hit a wall when given autonomy over managing their day and their workload.

ARK now offers coaching support for dyslexia, including: dyslexia awareness for HR professionals; diagnostic testing; and coaching support for dyslexia sufferers and their line managers. We can help dyslexic people implement highly effective self-management action plans to reduce stress for themselves and their colleagues.
